The third volume of The Slow Press is our most ambitious one yet. While consolidating the stories, the theme of childhood unexpectedly surfaced, serving as the common thread that we sought to amplify in our cover, contents, and accompanying graphics. From paying homage to our roots and showcasing them in eclectic ways including cheeky dish names, music, and novel flavour pairings, memories have been revived for the better. At the same time, we contemplate why things are the way they are – why we are losing our favourite restaurants, why do people eat at funerals, and why would anyone choose blemished produce over spotless ones?
